Description

This course provides an introduction to art history from prehistoric to medieval times. The course is designed for students to learn about the forms of art including painting, sculpture, and architecture; and to gain a deep understanding of medieval visual and material culture by viewing from the cultural, social & political developments. The course mainly focuses on these topics: rise of Christianity versus Roman Empire; lands of Islam; the Byzantine Empire; Egyptian and Near Eastern art, Greek and Roman monuments.
